Liberia Business Registry
A One-Stop Shop for Business Registration
An entity must be registered with the Liberia Business Registry (LBR) in order to commence business activities in Liberia. The process of registering a business has been streamlined and reduced to the following steps.
Business Registration Process
- An applicant submits an application to register the business, provides the required documents, and pays the required fee. Information relating to fees can be found at the Registry website: www.lbr.gov.lr .
- Upon approval, the applicant is issued a Business Registration Certificate by the Liberia Business Registry.
Register at the Liberia Business Registry
Agency: Liberia Business Registry (LBR)
The entrepreneur submits the company registration application to the Liberia Business Registry office. The application must include the following documents:
Required Documents for a Limited Liability Company
- Registration Form (RF – 001)
- Articles of Incorporation
- Copy of ID documents attached to Forms A or B
Categories of Registered Businesses
- Corporation (including limited liability companies)
- Partnership
- Sole Proprietorship
- Petty Trade
Additional Forms (Where Applicable)
- Empowered Person Form (A) or Registered Agent Form (B)
- Incorporator(s) Form (E)
- Shares and Shareholder(s) Form (F)
- Tax Authority Information Form (Q)
LBR officers review the application and request the Tax Identification Number (TIN) and Business Permit System (BPS) clearance from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning on behalf of the entrepreneur.
Reserve a Unique Company Name
Agency: Liberia Business Registry
The applicant may search for a company name online or at the LBR helpdesk. Name reservation is valid for 120 days and costs approximately USD $15.00.
Pay Fees and Obtain Proof of Payment
Agency: Liberia Business Registry (Central Bank Window)
The entrepreneur proceeds to the designated bank window to pay the applicable registration fees. Upon payment, the bank officer issues an official Government of Liberia receipt, which serves as proof of payment. This receipt must be returned to the LBR officer who accepted the application.
