Liberia remains largely underexplored beyond its production of iron ore, gold, and diamonds. Significant opportunities exist across a wide range of mineral resources.
Industrial & technology minerals
Liberia hosts occurrences of columbite-tantalite and tin-bearing pegmatites. These minerals support electronics, aerospace, and battery supply chains, with exploration potential in under-mapped inland regions.
Zinc, copper, REEs, nickel
Base and rare earth metals occur within Liberia’s Precambrian rock belts. Growing global demand for energy transition metals positions Liberia as an emerging exploration frontier.
Zircon, rutile, ilmenite
Liberia’s coastal beach sands contain commercially valuable heavy minerals. These deposits are attractive for low-strip, export-oriented mining supporting ceramics, pigments, and industrial applications.
Bauxite, chromite, silica sands
Industrial minerals such as bauxite, silica sands, and kyanite support construction, cement, and manufacturing industries, offering opportunities for domestic processing and export.
These mineral deposits are primarily associated with Precambrian and Proterozoic rock formations, which underlie most of Liberia’s landmass.
